Today as a follow-up to the first Making-a-statement post I'm going to show you what kind of statement necklaces
I've gathered over the years. Jewellery is something that can be very personal
to me and I usually vividly remember the day I bought a nice piece of
jewellery. Here's eight of my absolute favourite statement- necklaces together
with their birth stories.
Tänään jatkona aiemmalle Making-a-statement postaukselle aion esitellä teille millaisia statement-
koruja olen vuosien aikana itselleni keräillyt. Korut on usein mulle aika
henkilökohtaisia asioita ja useasti muistankin elävästi sen päivän, kun olen
tietyn korun ostanut, varsinkin kun puhe statement-koruista. Tässä on teille
kahdeksan ihan mun lemppareinta ja samassa lyhykäinen tarina niiden
syntyhistoriasta.
The one with
silver and yellow stones has a funny story behind it. I first saw it at
H&M and completely fell in love, but
unfortunately one stone was missing and I ended up not getting it. Then a day
or two later I started regretting not buying it, like really regretting. Well I
decided to go back and there it was still on the rack and I even got it for a
discounted price as it was faulty. No one has ever noticed anything, but I
always remember the little tale behind it.
Hopeisilla ja
keltaisilla kivillä koristellun korun takana on varsin hauska tarina. Näin
tämän H&M:llä ja hullaannuin siihen samantien. Valitettavasti korusta
kuitenkin puuttui yksi kivi ja päätin jättää korun hyllyyn. Muutama päivä
myöhemmin alkoi harmittaa etten ollutkaan ostanut korua, siis todella
harmittaa. Päätin sitten kipaista takaisin ja siellä se edelleen roikkui hyllyssä,
ja sain sen sitten vian takia myös alennuksella. Kukaan ei kyllä koskaan ole
huomannut vikaa, mutta itse aina muistelen tätä pikku tarinaa.
The second one
is also from H&M. It must have been about three years ago. I remember being
on my way to a nice summer party, but I had accidentally forgotten my jewellery
home. As I walked past an H&M I decided to give it ago. And there it was,
this beautiful piece of jewellery, looking so nice paired with my
sailor-inspired outfit.
Toinen koru on myös H&M:ltä. Siitä on varmasti
jo kolmisen vuotta aikaa. Olin iloisin mielin matkalla kesäjuhliin, kun
huomasin yhtäkkiä, että olin vahingossa jättänyt korut kotiin. No päätin siinä sitten
H&M:n ohi kävellessäni kokeilla onneani, ja siellä se loisti, upea
statement- koru, joka sopi vielä niin täydellisesti mun merimieshenkiseen
asuun.
The third necklace is a more recent find from Ebay. Yes, I
admit I am hooked on Ebay. More on that later. This stunning piece must have
cost around 5 euros including the postage. Can't go wrong with that!
Kolmas koru on
hiukan uudempi löytö Ebaylta. Myönnetään, olen ihan koukussa Ebayhin, siitä
ehkä lisää myöhemmin. Tämä upeus maksoi viitisen euroa postikuluineen. Eipä
siinä kovin pahasti vikaan voi mennä.
The fifth picture, the one in the middle, was the beginning
of statement necklaces for me. It was love at first sight when I saw it in
Accessorize. It must have been nearly 5 years ago, but it's still one of my
absolute favourites. If I remember correctly, it was hanging there on the sales
rack for about 4 euros reduced from 40€ all abandoned and no body had cared for it,
waiting for me.

alku. Se oli rakkautta ensi silmäyksellä, kun tämän korun bongasin
Accessorizelta. Siitä on varmasti jo viisi vuotta aikaa, mutta edelleen yksi
ihan mun lemppareimmeista. Jos nyt muistan oikein, niin siellä se roikkui
aletangossa 4 euron hintaan, lähtöhintana 40 euroa. Täysin hylättynä, kukaan ei
ollut välittänyt siitä. Siellä se vain minua odotti.
The sixth statement necklace was found at Forever
21 in Trafford Centre, Manchester. It's one of those necklaces that every time
I wear it I get several compliments. This piece was also a leftover, as I found
it again a little faulty and abandoned on the floor. As if it was meant to be.
Or am I just a weirdo looking for treasures on the floor.
Kuudennen korun löysin Manchesterin Trafford
Centresta. Siinä taas yksi koru, jota pitäessään saa useita kehuja ja kyselyitä
korun ostopaikasta. Tämäkin koru oli jonkin sortin jäänne, sillä se löytyi myös
hiukan haavoittuneena ja hylättynä liikeen lattialta. Ihan kuin tämäkin olisi
ollut tarkoitettua. Tai sitten olen vain hiukan mielenvikainen lattialta
löytyvien aarteiden metsästäjä.
Another necklace that deserves to be mentioned is the one with glass stones.
Every time a light catches it, it changes colour, such an incredible piece. Can
you guys believe it, It's from Primark and I must have paid only around £5 pound for it. Such a
lovely necklace and it goes with everything and in any occasion. I was over the
moon when I found it.
Toinen koru joka varmasti ansaitsee tulla mainituksi on tämä lasikivinen
statement. Aina kun valo osuu koruun, se muuttaa kauniisti väriään. Ihan
mieletön yksilö. Voitteko uskoa se on Primarkilta ja maksoikin varmaan sen 5
puntaa maksimissaan. Niin ihana koru ja sopii kaiken kanssa ja kaikissa
tilanteissa.
The yellow one, the second to last has a fynny story too. I had gone to the store maybe
like five times just to look at it, but at that time I found it a little too
pricey. But then a few days later my obssession had grown so much, that I decided
to go back. Fortunately, they had just started a campaign buy one get one free, then I immediately knew this was a sign for
me.
Tähän toiseksi viimeiseen keltaiseen koruun liittyy myös hauska tarina.
Olin käynyt tätä korua jo useamman kerran katselemassa, mutta mielestäni se oli
hiukan liian arvokas. Kuitenkin muutama päivä myöhemmin pakkomielteeni saada koru
itselleni kasvoi ja kasvoi, siispä päätin mennä takaisin. Onnekseni liikkeessä
oli juuri alkanut buy one- get one free kampanja, silloin tiesin että aikani
oli tullut.
Finally the last one. I had been looking for a two-toned metal
statement necklace for quite a while. Then one day I saw this girl wearing this
beautiful necklace and I forced myself to go and ask where she had gotten hers from.
She happily told me she had just purchased it the same day from H&M. And I
thanked her and rushed to H&M. :)
Sitten vielä viimeinen. Olin jo pidemmän aikaa etsiskellyt kaksisävyistä
sekoitemetalli statement-korua. Sitten yhtenä päivänä näin eräällä tytöllä
tämän kauniin yksilön, ja päätin kerätä rohkeuteni ja kysäistä mistä koru oli
hankittu. Hän kertoi iloisesti että oli juuri korun käynyt H&M:ltä ostamassa.
